Singlefile are a boutique, family run winery dedicated to making single vineyard wines from select sites in the Great Southern of Western Australia. Their name pays homage to the geese who waddle in single file around the estate and the Latin on our crest translates to the pursuit of excellence – a principle they try and live by every day.
Singlefile Wines are unique expressions of Western Australia’s Great Southern. The approach is to track down the best fruit across the sub-regions of this corner of the earth, then apply minimal intervention to craft singular examples of the Singlefile style, stamped with the crest. Singlefile Wines are made in a thoughtful and refined style, with elegance and fruit-driven complexity and an enticing length of flavour.
This wine has bright aromas of citrus and white peach with a subtle flint character. The palate displays a modern styled chardonnay of citrus zest and stone fruit with the use of new oak providing subtle spices. The wine is bright and mouth filling with a tight backbone and a long lingering finish.
2017 Vintage Review: Hand-picked, chilled overnight, fermented in 33% new and 67% 1yo French barriques, stirred for 3 months, matured for a further 5 months. A delicious wine, given kid gloves treatment, and repaying that handsomely. It opens with a smoky bouquet, then moves into a rich and layered oak, white peach, nectarine and grapefruit making light of the Dargaud & Jaegle oak. Drink to: 2030; Price: $30.00; Date Tasted: Mar 2019; Alcohol: 13.2%; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
