Sidewood Estate consistently craft exceptional Sauvignon Blanc from the Adelaide Hills with this the best that I have had. The nose is punchy with guava, green apple and some sweeter lychee notes that set the wine apart from an aromatic perspective. The palate has precise acidity and a melange of fruits that are centered around green apple with sour edged passion fruit giving texture and a flowing line of acidity an important textural counterpoint. The Mappinga Vineyard was hand-picked over 2 weeks, rows selected daily, the grapes chilled before being pressed. The bouquet of lychee and other tropical aromas sets the scene for a palate of a plate of carefully sliced fruits and a squeeze of lemon. All of which may suggest this is just a fun sauvignon blanc, when in fact it has a beautifully poised and very long finish and aftertaste. Highway robbery at this price.
