The Sidewood Vineyard is situated at the 300 acre Ashwood Estate in the cool-climate of the Adelaide Hills wine region, 380m above sea level. Climate, soil, careful pruning techniques and hand-picking play a vital role to ensure that only the best fruit is produced for Sidewood Wines. With the rows of vineyards planted facing East - West, this ensures that combined with intensive canopy management the intensity of the fruit flavour profile will be enhanced.
This wine displays delicate aromas of citrus blossom and herbal spice. The palate oozes an opulent, mouth-filling mid palate of honeydew melon, white peach and grapefruit. This luscious, complex wine has wonderful acid balanced by an incredible softness. Savour chilled on its own or enjoy as an accompaniment to chargrilled salmon, alternatively asparagus risotto as a vegetarian option. Drinking beautifully now but will continue to evolve with careful cellaring.
Styled to be most respectful to the best that Hills fruit can offer, sourced across the best estate and grower blocks. Multi-clonal and cleverly steered through a range of barrel sizes (25% new). It's all about crisp, ripe stone fruit and subtle citrus-focused chardonnay with delightfully balanced oak sitting in support, developing a creamy palate while holding excellent length. Great value. Drink to: 2025; Price: $24.00; Alcohol: 13%; Rating: 95 Points & Special Value Star; Tony Love; James Halliday Wine Companion
A light yellow in the glass with an attractive nose of fig, white peach and richer almond meal influences. The wine has a lovely baseline of acidity that takes on a lemony thread, giving contrast to fuller stone fruits. There is depth and texture to the wine with a creamy and gently spiced influence from time in barrel. The finish has driving citrus and stone fruits, underwriting plenty of future development in bottle. Drink to: 2029; Price: $24.00; Alcohol: 12.5%; Rating: 95 Points; Patrick Eckel; The Wine Reviewer
