The Sidewood Vineyard is situated at the 300 acre Ashwood Estate in the cool-climate of the Adelaide Hills wine region, 380m above sea level. Climate, soil, careful pruning techniques and hand-picking play a vital role to ensure that only the best fruit is produced for Sidewood Wines. With the rows of vineyards planted facing East - West, this ensures that combined with intensive canopy management the intensity of the fruit flavour profile will be enhanced.
This wine displays delicate aromas of citrus blossom and herbal spice. The palate oozes an opulent, mouth-filling mid palate of honeydew melon, white peach and grapefruit. This luscious, complex wine has wonderful acid balanced by an incredible softness. Savour chilled on its own or enjoy as an accompaniment to chargrilled salmon, alternatively asparagus risotto as a vegetarian option. Drinking beautifully now but will continue to evolve with careful cellaring.

Flint, oyster shell and citrus initially, but with time and a bit of warmth to the glass almond meal and white peach show themselves. The wine is exactly where you would want a 2018 Chardonnay to be in mid 2019, there is lovely bright acidity and fine citrus lines however oak provides gentle spice and stone fruits are just starting to have real impact. There is an almond meal grip on the finish and everything is there to say this will evolve into something with even more impact with a few years in bottle. Great value as always. Parcels of clones 95 and 76, free-run juice direct to barrel, wild yeast fermentation, matured for 10 months in French oak. An elegant, tightly focused wine built on grapefruit and white peach fruit flavours. The length and balance are very good.
