During 160 years of winemaking, Seppelt has built a reputation of innovation and unswerving dedication to quality. The Seppelt philosophy involves harnessing the strengths of each viticultural region to create varietally and regionally expressive wines of great character. Seppelt has had more experience with this unique Australian wine style than any other winemaker. Although there are no precise records, it appears the winery was experimenting with sparkling red wines as far back as the 1890s.
12 months in French Oak Vats and Tanks. Deep red with crimson hues. The nose shows dark fruits, fresh red berries and chocolate. Vibrant and bright dark fruits and fresh fig with a fine sparkling bead. Flesh tannin and integrated oak gives the wine density and structure. Drinking well now while fresh and bright but can benefit from short term cellaring.

The perennial go-to for affordable sparkling shiraz, Original captures the black pepper, satsuma plum and black cherry elegance of Victoria and supports it with masterfully handled, finely structured tannins, beautifully integrated dark chocolate oak and well-gauged dosage. It concludes bright, long, creamy and joyous. Now a non-vintage blend and oaked for the first time, never has Original upheld the effortless calm and spicy black fruit integrity of the house with more finesse. Bravo.
