Deriving its name from the picturesque Mount Chalambar near Great Western in central Victoria, Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz has an excellent pedigree, having been made since 1953. Originally crafted by the legendary Colin Preece and labelled as Chalambar Burgundy, this wine has become one of the most sought after Seppelt releases each year due to its consistency, quality and value. Sourced from the Grampians and Heathcote regions in Western and Central Victoria, there is a great balance of violets, pepper and spice from the Grampians fruit that provides contrasting elegance to the strength of Heathcote's dark plum fruit.

Character, charm and interest. Winemakers crave these features in their wines though few are able to deliver it consistently. This wine has it in spades. Immediately approachable it has lashings of gorgeous dark fruit and spice, the silkiest tannins and impeccable balance. It's complexity is thought provoking yet it's simply enjoyable. It's the best Chalambar I've had and 50-odd vintages in, that's saying something! Drink: Now – 2030+; Quality: Exceptional BW; WineStar© October 2019
