Domaine Séguinot-Bordet dates from 1590 and is now managed by the young Jean-François Bordet who has recently taken over from his grandfather Roger Séguinot. Most of the 16 hectares of vineyards are located on the right bank of the serein river benefiting from a perfect south / south-east exposition. Jean-François Bordet practises coolish fermentation and allows his wines to mature for 3-5 months on their lees; this maximises the contact and promotes a luscious style to the wines. His approach is clearly contemporary, but it delivers very stylish wines which fully express both the fruit and terroir.
As to the 2018 vintage Bordet proudly noted that "in all the years that I have been doing this I'm not sure that I have ever made better wines". From of the leading wine families of Maligny, this is quite rounded on the nose, and on the palate slightly softer than some of the others, and therefore possibly more typical of the vintage. Good texture on the palate with a little weight. Rating: 93 Points; Decanter
