Rochford Wines is a family owned winery, located on Maroondah Highway in Victoria’s Yarra Valley. Rochford’s senior winemaker Marc Lunt, says his approach to winemaking is drawn from the traditional Burgundian’s philosophy that, “you don’t make wine; you merely accompany it from vine to bottle”, and in his own words, “produce the best fruit possible in the vineyard, handle the fruit gently to preserve fruit character, minimise extraction and allow the wines to express the individuality of the vineyard and each growing season”.
Straw-colour but racy in the mouth. Nashi pear, nectarine, lactose, honeysuckle and custard apples. It sloshes, it seduces, it sears out through the finish. It’s both fruity and steely. It’ll be better again in another 6-12 months. Love the style of this. Tasted: Jun 19; Alcohol: 12.9%; Price: $25; Closure: Screwcap; Drink: 2019-2024+; Rated: 91+ Points; Campbell Mattinson; The Wine Front
