Since 1841, generations of the Costamagna family have dedicated their lives to Barolo production. The long story began in the XIX century with Francesco Costamagna, carried on in the 1960s by Claudia Ferraresi and Giorgio Locatelli, and for the last 30 years by their son Alessandro. Based in La Morra, Rocche dell’Annunziata: Rocche Costamagna consists of 14 hectares of vineyards owned by the family for generations, with 5 of those hectares in the sub-zone named Rocche dell’Annunziata, one of the renowned Barolo Crus.
A subtle, floral Barolo, revealing tulip, rose-petal and heather notes that follow through to tea leaves and hay. Medium-bodied and compressed on the palate with a convincing line of acidity and steely tannins. Drink from 2021.Date Tasted: Nov 2019; Rating: 93 points; James Suckling
