Pirramimma was founded by Alexander Campbell Johnston in 1892 and has been owned and operated by the Johnston family ever since. Winemaking at Pirramimma has been a family affair for over 126 years and is now in the capable hands of Geoff Johnston, a winemaking graduate of Charles Sturt University, grandson of the winery’s founder.
The wine displays a bouquet of Kaffir lime, cashew nut, vanillin oak and floral notes. The palate delivers spicy melon, white peach, Granny Smith apple and creamy texture, with hints of Guava and lemony oak. This wine is balanced by quality fruit, oak and crisp acidity in harmony.
Wonderfully fruited and gorgeously complex, showing grilled peach, vanillin oak, French pastry and nougat characters on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate that's succulent and flavoursome. It's creamy and enticing with layers of delicious flavours. At its best: now to 2024; Tasted: June 2021; Price: $30.00; Rating: 94 Points; Sam Kim; Wine Orbit
