The Pike family have been producing authentic, handcrafted beverages in South Australia since 1886. Pikes Beer was first sold in 1886, followed by soft drinks and cordials from 1940, then Pikes wine from 1985 and beer again from 1996. It is a family tradition we proudly continue to this day.
Named after family matriarch, ‘The Merle’ is selected from the best parcels of Riesling from our Polish Hill River Estate.
If there is a better Riesling made in Australia this decade, I want to know about it. $55 might seem hefty for a local Riesling but in world terms, this is criminally cheap. This is so close to perfect, it deserves full points but I think it might just get even better and I need the wiggle room. Rating: 99 Points; Ken Gargett; Winepilot
This has very intense aromas of lime and wet slate with some sweeter florals, as well as white nectarine. So fresh. The palate has intensity and drive, with the same fresh lime and white-nectarine flavors. Very long and vivid. Rating: 97 Points; Nick Stock for James Suckling
