Philippe Colin Chassagne Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er Cru 2013
Domaine Philippe Colin was established back in 2004. Today, it grows or farms 11.5 hectares (28.4 acres) of vineyards around the village of Chassagne-Montrachet, in the south Cote de Beaune.
85 year old vines, with a few of 60 years old, this has ginger and spice, and plenty of elegance. This is nervy and focussed, with lovely texture and purity. The heavier clay content that is present lends a spicy, powerful character to the wines.
A powerful, muscular white, with a dense structure supporting concentrated flavors of peach, apple, lemon, vanilla and nutmeg, all underlined by vivid acidity, driving the finish to a minerally conclusion. Best from 2018 through 2027. Rating: 94 Points; Bruce Sanderson; Wine Spectator
