Petaluma, founded in 1976, crafts ultra-premium wines by carefully selecting the best sites within a particular region suited to a chosen variety. This is our 'distinguished vineyards' philosophy. This pioneering attitude towards responsive and instinctive viticulture and winemaking is as uncompromising and true today as it was more than 45 years ago.

Hand-picked up in the Clare Valley during the day, and placed into the cold room overnight the whole bunch pressed the following morning at the Petaluma Winery in the Adelaide Hills. Pressed to stainless steel tanks for cold settling; racked off lees to stainless steel tank for cool fermentation; matured in stainless steel tanks before being blended then gently filtered and bottled.

Light straw-yellow colour, with a superbly fragrant aroma of dried wildflowers; beautifully fresh, clean and effusive. The palate follows on from this promising start: it's very fine and intense, clean and crisp, with purity of fruit and length of finish. The aftertaste is very dry and resonates long and firm. Various shades of lemon and other citrus, with lemon juice and pith predominating. A superb young riesling. Tasted: January 2021; Drink: 2021 to 2035; Price: $36.00; Alcohol: 13.5%; Rating: 96 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
