The Pawn Wine Co. had its beginning in 2002 as a “once” off experiment between 2 mates – winemaker Tom Keelan and vigneron David Blows. They had a craving to make small parcels of wine from alternative varieties growing on their Springhill Vineyards in the Adelaide Hills. They began to identify other idyllic viticultural sites and hand selected parcels of fruit within their Adelaide Hills vineyard to produce wines that were not only a bit unconventional, but enjoyable to drink, incredibly food friendly, and made in a style that reflects their true origins – the ultimate in hand crafted, Adelaide Hills, Artisinal wine.
This Rose is made from grapes sourced from the Macclesfield vineyard. This is a very unique blend of Sangiovese & Tempranillo. A delicate pale salmon hue signifies this as a wine to be consumed on a warm summers day, with food and friends. It shows lifted floral aromas mixed with freshly picked strawberries. The wine has a balanced acidity with a variety layered complexity that will astonish those drinkers expecting a simple quaffer. The palate has delicate hints of rose petal and Turkish delight, and should be consumed chilled or on ice.
Fresh and delicately fruited, it is refreshing, lively and bright with lovely cranberry, nectarine and red apple flavours with a delightful floral lift. Pale salmon-pink colour. An ultra-refreshing style, tight and reserved, with a strong citrusy core. It is taut, bright and gently savoury with faint creaminess. In order to ensure that the wine is served adequately chilled, a skull will appear on the label once the wine reaches a temperature above 16°C. Now to 2020.
