Pascal Reverdy’s domaine is based in the tiny hamlet of Maimbray. Maimbray is located in a valley surrounded by chalk hills adjacent to Chavignol and Verdigny. From their small cellar they produce one of France’s most highly awarded Sancerres.
100% Sauvignon blanc from 20+ year-old vines, hand-picked and sorted, pneumatically pressed and cool fermented in stainless steel. Matured in tank on fine lees for 6 months.
This is the very latest vintage, currently still in cuvée, and I expect it will be bottled some time around April 2018. Aromatically it commences with a very fresh, open, saline character. The palate shows a real elegance and polish, lightly leafy white peaches underpinned by a gentle bed of acid fruits, and a lovely chalky-mineral substance to it as well. This is very good indeed.
