Oakridge Local Vineyard Series Willowlake Chardonnay 2018
Since its founding in 1978, Oakridge has been making wines in the Yarra Valley and has produced some of the finest examples of cool climate wines seen in Australia. Oakridge is family owned, with a philosophy of producing wines that reflect the terroir of the Yarra Valley. The three ranges explore various grape varieties, meso-climates within the Yarra Valley, individual sites and winemaking approaches.
This is the oldest Upper Yarra vineyard, and one of the largest in either the Upper or Lower Yarra. The mouthfeel and thus the fruit/oak acid balance - are all singing the same note, let alone page. It has great length and aftertaste. Ironically the only one of these four chardonnays not entered in the Yarra Valley Wine Show. Drink to: 2030; Price: $42.00; Date Tasted: Sept 2019; Alcohol: 13.4%; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
