Norfolk Rise Vineyard is located on the southern tip of South Australia and is renowned for its rugged coastline, exotic seafood and long, white sandy beaches. Heavily influenced by a unique microclimate, Norfolk Rise Vineyard captures the specific regional characteristics of Mount Benson in producing cool climate wines of the highest calibre. Situated in the heart of Mount Benson, the Norfolk Rise Vineyard is planted on 180 hectares of undulating coastal hills. Within 5 kilometres of the ocean at 37 degrees south of the equator, Shiraz is planted on near perfect “terra rossa” soils, providing an ideal level of nutrient and water retention.
For this exciting new development, Shiraz grapes were selected from the Mt Benson Estate vineyard and the Barossa. The fruit was crushed, transferred and then fermented as small batches in both stainless steel and Ganimede fermenters at >25°C allowing gentle extraction of the ripe fruit flavours and supple tannins. A long ferment lasting 7 - 10 days followed. Extended maceration was carried out on selected parcels of fruit. The wine was matured in predominantly French oak barriques for 12 months prior to bottling, to allow integration of the great complexity of flavours.

Machine harvested, crushed, destemmed, fermented, after 12 days pressed to stainless steel and 10% French oak barriques for 10 months. Highly perfumed, inexpensive and totally enjoyable punching well above its weight. All florals, black pepper and spice with juicy red fruits and a savoury overlay. It's medium-bodied, buoyant with supple tannins, ultra-refreshing and frighteningly easy to drink.
