On a property that has been in the family since 1939, the Murdoch Hill vineyard is situated just outside of Oakbank in the Onkaparinga Hills.

Sourced from the best selection of vineyards in the Piccadilly Valley and Lobethal districts.A driven elegant wine, displaying trademark Adelaide Hills natural acidity and purity. Showing white flowers, complex citrus characters and a fine mineral finish.

A new level of excitement and excellence for this gun Adelaide Hills chardonnay producer. As the name suggests, this has power, line and length in abundance. Flinty, carefully curated reductive funk on the nose with lemons, grapefruit and white peaches with crushed hazelnuts. The palate has scythe-like cut through the pristine citrus and stone fruits. The finish has a comet-like trail of fresh, zippy chardonnay fruit. Superb. Drink now or hold. Rating: 97 Points; James Suckling

New release/first release here. Some of the foudres used for Tilbury were isolated for their interest and personality. The 2017 vintage particularly strong for MH, particularly in chardonnay. The timing was right, reveals winemaker Michael Downer. This wine is to be set free from the winery in April 2018. Reminiscent of Syberia from Hoddles Creek, or supremely tightly wound Chablis. Powerful yet quiet chardonnay of full character yet exceptional control. Serious pulse of tingly, slatey, flinty mineral character with lively citrus and green apple notes. Incredibly intense yet so delicious, racing across the palate with velocity. Should last a generation too. Magnificent, leaner, serious expression. Tasted: Feb 18; Alcohol: 13%; Price: $85; Closure: Screwcap; Drink: 2018-2030; Rated: 95+ Points; Mike Bennie; The Wine Front
