Established in 1972 Mountadam High Eden estate is Australia’s first cool climate Chardonnay vineyard. Situated on a unique rocky outcrop ranging in elevation up to 550m, the vineyards have a commanding easterly aspect over the Eden Valley. This wine is made using tradition methods and is a blend of the exclusive multi clonal resources available on the estate.
The wine has lifted aromas of lemon and jasmine flowers. An underlying dried herb character adds to the wines allure.
The palate shows all the hallmarks of an Eden Valley Riesling. It has lashings of lemon juice characters throughout. More subtle characters of dried herbs and jasmine flowers add to the complexity of the wine. The wine is well structured with soft lively acid carrying through-out the palate and giving the wine long persistence.
Exceptional riesling! Bravo! A seam of transparent, juicy acidity transports yuzu spice, grapefruit pulp, nashi gelato and lemon drop flavours long. Mellifluous. Graceful. A sophisticated spellbinding wine. Fresh, but nothing tangy, nor hard. Drink to: 2030; Price: $28.00; Alcohol: 12%; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
