Castello di Meleto has been welcoming those arriving to Gaiole in Chianti since 1256. The wines of Castello di Meleto are characterized by their authentic expression of the Chianti Classico area. Elegant and structured, they combine freshness, imparted by the altitudes and the thermal excursions of the hills of Gaiole in Chianti, and minerality, imparted by rocky soils.
Gaiole in Chianti area, a traditional but timeless interpretation for this Chianti, both firm and spicy. On the nose, pleasantly sophisticated with clear vegetal traces, laurel dominating, raspberries and cherries. Ample, generous mouthfeel with salty tannins. The closing shows uncommon balance. Rating: 96- Points; Luca Gardini; Gardini Notes
Medium to deep ruby to brick-red colour with a tinge of purple and a classical sangiovese nose of dried herbs, dried mushrooms and freshly-turned earth, with some ferrous hints of dried blood. The wine is medium-bodied and savoury with a generous helping of supple, drying, fine powdery tannins. Good concentration; appealing balance and length. A very typical Chianti and superb quality. Outstanding in its station. Date Tasted: June 2021; Drink: 2021 to 2030; Price: $50.00; Alcohol: 13.5%; Rating: 94 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
The 2018 Chianti Classico is an absolutely gorgeous wine. A burst of sweet red cherry fruit, raspberry, rose petal, mint and blood orange races out of the glass. Exuberant and boisterous, with tremendous fruit purity, this 2018 is a pure pleasure to taste.
