Although the company is young, Maverick owns 75 acres of vineyards from the top terroirs across the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. Approximately half of the vines are over 100 years old, and many much older.
This is magnificently fruited and lifted on the nose showing dark plum, sweet raspberry, floral, anise and cedar characters, leading to a wonderfully weighted palate that offers roundness and soothing mouthfeel. It’s seamless and mouthfilling with delectable fruit flavours and spicy nuances backed by fine-grained tannins, finishing impressively long and refined. At its best: 2024 to 2043. Date Tasted: July 2020; Price: $180.00; Rating 96 Points; Sam Kim; Wine Orbit
