Marques de Tezona is named in honour of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar “El Cid” - the legendary Castilian nobleman, general and champion of central Spain. La Mancha native Jorge Garcia Cuenca has created a range of varietal wines that express the bold flavours and rich complexity of Spanish wines.
The wines are sourced from the dry, high altitude plateau of Castilla la Mancha and are made with minimal influence of oak. Each wine is a versatile companion to the diverse nature of Spanish cuisine.
Tempranillo is Spain’s gift to the wine world, a richly flavoured but elegant wine that is the perfect match to Spanish cuisine. This bright and vibrant style is a fine example of the new fruit-driven style. Aromas of ripe redcurrants, wild strawberries, dried herbs and savoury spice. The palate is fruit driven with an impressive depth of ripe dark berry and varietal cherry cola fruit flavours framed by savoury spice and soft tannins. An impressively complete and versatile wine suitable for immediate appreciation.
This is a lovely expression of the variety showing black cherry, plum, warm spice, earthy mushroom and roasted nut characters on the nose, followed by a flavoursome palate that is succulent and lingering. The wine offers gentle weight and fine texture together with savoury nuances, leading to a delicately dry finish. Excellent value. Tasted: November 2018. Drink: Now to 2020.
