Luigi Einaudi was still an Italian, and even though the job as Italy's first President must have been quite demanding, legend had it that he was always on hand for vintage time - a story confirmed by the oldies even now. This was clearly his passion and it is reflected through to today. For every bottle produced there is a deliberate thought for each wine’s existence and an application of care and resources to its growing and making.

Dried flowers, tea leaf, aniseed, red fruit, a little spice, and plenty of fragrance. Medium to full-bodied, fresh, fine stony tannin grip, strawberries and violet, some new leather and a long fresh finish. Should age beautifully. Tight and refined. Tasted: Oct 2021; Alcohol: 14.5%; Closure: Cork; Drink: 2025-2037; Rated: 95 Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front

Medium to full ruby to brick-red colour. The bouquet gorgeously detailed with leather, toasted nut, dried herb and briar nuances, a hint of star anise and more chaffy as it aired. The palate is full-bodied but lean and elegantly styled, with abundant but supple tannins, beautifully balanced and contributing to the general savouriness of the wine. An ethereal, super-detailed and delicious Barolo. Date Tasted: Nov 2021; Drink: Rating: 96 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
