Not surprisingly this medium to full bodied wine is the perfect food wine. There's lots of spice and generous fruit flavour but the savoury tones and tannic grip work perfectly. It will keep in the short to medium term but it's oh, so drinkable right now, and at this price, that's what I'd be doing with it! Its premium package completes the equation, the retail price is very much in the value department, our offer price smack bang in the bargain basement!
2017 Review: This can be found at under $15, which is pretty tidy buying. Delivers a good hit of Southern Italian at a very fair price. Plum, aniseed, chocolate, pine wood. Juicy and lively, all choc-dipped plum with a clip of orange peel and dried herb. Tannin is powdery, and spreads out nicely, finish more red fruits and delivers decent length. No complaints, and perhaps a little nod and smile. Tasted: Oct 18; Alcohol: 13.5%; Price: $19; Closure: Screwcap; Drink: 2018-2021; Rated: 90 Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front
