Etienne Barre and Christophe Reboul Salze bought Chateau Les Grands Marechaux located in the Cotes de Blaye appellation in 1997. The wine making and vineyard management is consulted by Stephane Derenoncourt who is well known for working with numerous estates in the Right Bank of Bordeaux.
The 2015 Grands Marechaux is light on its feet, perfumed and gracious, all of which make it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Lifted floral notes, spice, tobacco and red berry fruit are all nicely pushed forward. This is in a somewhat airy style for the year, but there is enough balance to support at least a few years in the cellar. Antonio Galloni; vinous.com
Fragrant red-fruited nose with some floral notes and a hint of chocolate make this medium-bodied red with suave tannins a seductive wine that you can drink right away, but there’s a firmness and freshness on the finish that suggest this should be good through at least 2025. Rating: 91 Points; James Suckling
Initially firmly tannic, this opens to reveal fine blackberry fruit and fresh acidity. It's a generous wine, the wood aging giving tannins and spice while the delicious fruit offers a rounder, smoother side. Drink: from 2020; Rating: 91 Points; Roger Voss; Wine Enthusiast
