The Kay Brothers McLaren Vale Amery Vineyards grace the rolling foothills of the Southern Mt. Lofty Ranges. Established in 1890 by Australian born brothers, Herbert and Frederick Kay, the Heritage listed Kays Amery Winery celebrated its first grape crush in 1895 and is the oldest McLaren Vale winery still in founding family hands. Today, the family continues the winemaking traditions in the heritage listed cellars.
2017 Review: Hand-picked, open-fermented, 9 days on skins, matured for 8 months in used French puncheons; includes 2% shiraz. Bell-clear colour; highly fragrant red flowers, fruit salad and aromas and flavours. Medium-bodied at best, but that's all the wine needs. It's impossible to deny these '17 wines from Kay Brothers. Drink to: 2027; Price: $28.00; Date Tasted: Jan 2019; Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 95 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
