John Duval is one of the world’s best known winemakers. Toward the end of 2002, John retired from Southcorp after a distinguished career of 28 years, including 16 years as Chief Winemaker for Penfolds. John embarked on the development of his own label in 2003 using old vine Barossa Valley fruit and has created stunning wines that reflect the terroir of the Barossa and the hand crafted attention of John Duval.
Shiraz 100%, sourced from old vineyards Marananga, Eden Valley, Ebenezer and Krondorf regions. Traditional, low intervention winemaking techniques were employed with Entity, allowing the wine to be approachable in its youth, but with ample structure and fruit depth to allow great potential for improvement in the bottle.
2017 Review: From old vines in five districts, fermented with submerged cap, matured in French hogsheads (32% new) for 15 months. Complex and rich from the first whiff, it doesn’t waste a single berry of this great vintage. So much power, such elegance. lcohol: 14%; Rating: 99 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
