Domaine Jean -Marc Brocard consists of a single range of the great Chablis terroirs. The tillage, manual harvesting and the regulation of the yields have valued the vineyard and allowed the wines to gain in natural expression. The Domaine produces very pure wine, well defined with great vintages. Major raw chiseled and precise - combining freshness and density. Starting with a hectare of vines from his father-in-law, Emile Petit, Jean-Marc Brocard has created one of the most important Domaine in Chablis and Yonne Valley.
Downstream of the Serein, the river which runs through the Chablis vineyards, the Fourchaume terroir has a richer soil than the rest of the vineyard, due to the alluvial soils which are washed by the river. This makes for more flattering, pleasant and supple wines that still carry the mineral quality of the Chablis. Golden green. Fresh nose with toasted notes. In the mouth: saline notes, mineral and candied lemon aromas. A refined and elegant wine.
This vineyard, planted on rich soil, has produced a ripe wine full of yellow fruits, rich spice and juicy acidity. It is full bodied, concentrated and generous. Drink from 2019; Date Published: January 2018; Alcohol: 13%; Rating: 93 Points; Roger Voss; Wine Enthusiast Magazine
This too is mildly reduced though it seems relatively clear that the underlying fruit is decidedly ripe. This impression is confirmed by the dense, sappy and relatively powerful medium weight flavors that possess fine persistence if only average depth. However the underlying material seems sufficiently good that this may very well add complexity with a few years of bottle age.
