Deep Woods Estate was established in 1987 and acquired by the Fogarty family in 2005, making it part of the Fogarty Wine Group. Under the FWG banner, Deep Woods Estate has been transformed into one of Margaret River’s most awarded and highly regarded wineries. This wine has been crafted utilising fruit sourced from three separate blocks on the estate: Blocks 3 and 4 of premium 25-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon vines; and Block 5 Merlot planted in 1987. A small amount of Cabernet and Malbec from the neighbouring property of Abbey Vale features in the blend.

Lovely dark, deep colour. Lifted aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, mulberry, bramble, dried herbs and tobacco. A youthful, deep and powerful palate, lashings of blackberry, blood plum, graphite and cedary oak. The tannins are firm, dry and provide lovely shape to the wine and the acidity is bright and crunchy. Drinks well now but will age well. Smart value. Date Tasted: March 2022; Drink: 2022 to 2032; Price: $35.00; Alcohol: 14%; Rating: 95 Points; The Real Review
As per usual for the Deep Woods team, this is a dense, intensely vibrant and cracking cabernet merlot. Never doubt them, for they are doing brilliant things.
