Vineyards from several sections of Heathcote were selected from Corop, Chinamans Bend and Colbinabbin. The ancient red Cambrian soils of Northern Heathcote are ideal for dark fruited, plump red Shiraz.
Intense purple with fine crimson bubbles. Dark fruits, plums, spice. Soft, rich, delicate bead, balanced sweetness, quite calming.
This rich, ripe Woodfired Non-Vintage Sparkling Shiraz from De Bortoli’s 80-hectare Central Victorian Heathcote vineyard has 13.7% alcohol, lingering foaming effervescence, deep purple hues, gamey scents and blackcurrant front-palate flavour. The middle palate has plum pudding, spice and savoury oak and the finish minty tannins. 4.5 stars. John Lewis; The Newcastle Herald June 2018
This excellent value-for-money wine is sourced from Heathcote. It is power and plushness with a fine thread of that minerally ironstone regionality. Rating: 95 Points; Ray Jordan
