Dandelion Vineyards defies normal description, it is perhaps Australia’s most quixotic fusion of vineyard and vigneron. Every bottle signs off with “Wish you were here...” Every wine is sourced from a single site. Founder, owner, winemaker - Elena Brooks - is a polymath and perfectionist on a lifelong vinous treasure hunt, following the inspiration of the Dandelion Flower’s Wishing Clock.
Matured in French and American oak (mainly used) for 18 months. Deeply coloured crimson-purple, it is redolent of McLaren Vale with layers of black fruits, choc-mint and ripe tannins, the oak important for texture, not flavour. All up, a thoroughly impressive wine at this price. Drink to: 2033; Price: $28.00; Date Tasted: Sept 2019; Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 95 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
