The new faces behind the Curtis Family Vineyards are Mark, Thomas & Jenna Curtis, with the guidance of their father, Claudio Curtis who lives on the vineyard just outside McLaren Vale. The name Curtis is thought to derive from Curtius, a noble and wealthy family of the First and Second Centuries AD, the Roman Empire era originating from the Latinium people.
This Small Batch Grenache is An early release grenache. bright fruit characters bursting out of your glass. Perfect for those balmy summer nights. The Grenache fruit was selectively handpicked from 120-year-old bush vines. Gently destemmed and cold-soaked for 14 days. Slowly Fermented for a further 14 days then gently pressed into stainless steel tanks.
Deep, bright red/purple colour, with a a smoky-charcuterie, mixed spice and sweet blackberry bouquet. There's a wave of rich sweet fruit on entry, a flood of jammy berry flavour backed by tannins that are slightly bitter at first, then soften. A full-bodied, decadently rich and super-ripe wine, which will have many fans, me included.
