The new faces behind the Curtis Family Vineyards are Mark, Thomas & Jenna Curtis, with the guidance of their father, Claudio Curtis who lives on the vineyard just outside McLaren Vale. The name Curtis is thought to derive from Curtius, a noble and wealthy family of the First and Second Centuries AD, the Roman Empire era originating from the Latinium people.

This is delightfully styled, showing sweet cherry, floral, olive and warm spice aromas, leading to a beautifully smooth palate that's rounded and flowing. A lovely expression of the variety with an immediate appeal. At its best: now to 2028. Date: Mar 2022; Price: $35.00; Rating: 93 Points; Sam Kim; Wine Orbit

Another very fine, even more serious Grenache, again from a stellar vintage. An attractive pale red hue, the wine is redolent of warm earth, strawberries, florals and tobacco leaves. There is balance and finesse in this very fine example of what Grenache can offer when done well. The wine has focus and maintains its intensity along the journey to a long finish and silky tannins. There is lots to like here, enjoy this now and over the next six to seven years. Date: Aug 2023; Drink: 2023-2030; Price: $35.00; Rating: 93 Points; Ken Gargett; Wine Pilot

Things have shifted radically here in recent times. For the better. The wines fresher and more vital. The pallid hue and expressive aromas of orange peel, red jubey pastille, rosewater and kirsch are highly attractive. Medium bodied, expansive and persistent across the palate. Lithe and chalky. I'd chill this to null the sweetness and promote the next glass. Drink to: 2025; Price: $35.00; Alcohol: 14%; Rating: 91 Points; Ned Goodwin MW; James Halliday Wine Companion

A light to medium bodied modern-style of Grenache with aromas of raspberry and cherry dominating from the start. The palate has more of a rose petal and fresh turned earthiness that is both appealing and complex. Fine chalky tannins thread through the middle extending the finish. You just have to love Grenache and this is a really nice wine at a great price. Drink to: 2027; Price: $35.00; Rating: 92 Points; Ray Jordann
