Based on the single vineyard philosophy of winemaking, Craggy Range was the first in the Southern Hemisphere to specialise in the production of single vineyard wines from the most prestigious winegrowing regions across New Zealand including Martinborough, Hawke’s Bay and Marlborough.
Headed by Chief Winemaker Matt Stafford, awarded the Air New Zealand Young Winemaker of the Year Award in 2007, the reputation of Craggy Range’s wine portfolio is synonymous with quality and attention to detail. The winery has received a number of internationally recognised awards including Wine Enthusiast Wine Star Awards - New World Winery of the Year in 2014. It was also awarded the most popular New Zealand Wine by US Wine & Spirits Magazine.
Aromas of black cherry, gentle toast and wild herbs prevail with a strong sense of the forest. Lovely ripe flavours of black cherry and red fruits are balanced with fine velvety tannins and a hint of dry earth. Long, soft, fine grained finish.
Craggy Range Te Muna Road Pinot Noir, Martinborough, 2017 is a dream, I gave this a mark of 98 in a recent tasting of New World Single Vineyard Pinots for Decanter Magazine. The balance between savoury and luscious fruit with perfect acidity, gives a near perfect silky Pinot. Rating: 98 Points; Roger Jones, Decanter Magazine(UK)
