Based on the single vineyard philosophy of winemaking, Craggy Range was the first in the Southern Hemisphere to specialise in the production of single vineyard wines from the most prestigious winegrowing regions across New Zealand including Martinborough, Hawke’s Bay and Marlborough.
The cool yet sunny environment of our Te Awanga Vineyard near Cape Kidnappers allows the development of intense Chardonnay flavours in the grapes, captured using traditional winemaking techniques seen in the Chablis region of France.
Fresh, gentle and delicately tangy chardonnay from a coastal vineyard - you can practically taste the sea air. Appealing purity and an ethereal texture and bone-dry finish makes this a great seafood wine. Date Tasted: April 2020; Rating: 90 Points; Bob Campbell; The Real Review
Richness of fruit is there, white peach and melon, white flowers, but with a coolness and calm composure. Oak is barely there, and there’s a lovely almond flavour and texture, a little green olive, tight acidity, perhaps some ripe lemon in the mix too. Some flint and firmness, and a particularly good finish, flavour and chalk and citrus zest. It’s a beautiful wine.
