Just over 20 years ago, Claymore Wines was humbly established with small volumes of Grenache and Riesling from a single vineyard in Penwortham. Since then, the estate has grown to include additional varietals and 44 hectares across three additional vineyards in Watervale.
Made from a blend of parcels drawn from our three Riesling sites, this wine is crafted using only free run juice and cool fermentation. It once again delivers a classic Watervale Rizza with that forward fruit lift and delicate floral elements.
The gently spicy edge to the blossom aromas is coupled with a whisper of musk, the palate adding to the appeal of the bouquet with its display of lime and lemon zest palate. There is power to the base, yet no hint of extraction. Really enjoyable, and great value. Price: $20.00; Alcohol: 12%; Rating: 95 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
It is fabulously expressed on the nose showing lemon peel, fresh apple, lime zest and blossom aromas, followed by a juicy palate that is vibrant and beautifully expressive. The wine is pristine and bright with youthful flavours, yet immediately approachable, backed by fine texture and crisp acidity. Charming and irresistibly attractive. At its best: now to 2028. Price: $20. Rating: 95 Points; Sam Kim; Wine Orbit
