Castle Rock Estate is nestled on the eastern slopes of the Porongurup mountain range and is named after a prominent nearby landmark. The vineyard has a cool and elevated northerly aspect, resulting in intensely flavoured wines.
Pure Riesling aromas, typical of Porongurup Riesling. Lime juice backed by a beautiful fragrance of orange blossom and fresh flowers. There are hints of lavender as well as passionfruit, giving a bouquet that is zesty and fresh, yet also of great depth.
The lime juice characters again dominate and run the length of the palate. The floral notes are just evident and the natural acidity gives focus and drive. The wine is zesty and has an incredibly tight and linear structure, yet has great generosity and succulence, as is the want of great Riesling. The wine is tight and restrained with an attractive delicacy now, yet will blossom with age for at least fifteen years.
Glinting quartz-green; an intriguing mix of flowers/blossom, talc and spice on the bouquet is followed by a finely wrought palate of the highest quality, citrus fruit and tingling acidity sopranos singing to each other in unison. Balance is the key now and in the future.
