As one of Margaret River’s ‘founding five’ wineries, Cape Mentelle pioneered many of the region’s renowned wine styles and today is a benchmark for the quality of the region’s wines.
58% Sauvignon Blanc, 42% Semillon. Pale straw with green hues. Aromas of white melon, lime, grapefruit, honeysuckle, blackcurrant and a hint of chalk dust. Juicy clean and fresh with talcy pithy structure balancing the rich fruit flavors of limes, passionfruit and lychee. The texture is creamy and the finish bright, intense, long and elegant.
2018 Review: The wine has complex aromas and flavours, so much so that you might wonder whether if a small percentage was barrel fermented, until the clarity of the mouthfeel disposes of that idea. Two rivulets of flavour run happily along the palate, one with lemon citrus flavours, the other with green apple and gooseberry, tied together by crunchy acidity on the finish.
