Carries the air of earth and baked raspberry - like you'd find in a baked muffin; fruit, yet not sweet. Feels lighter across the palate, at least initially, before a darker manifestation sets in. Suggestions of black pepper and clove, a carry of decent length. Pretty rugged, gutsy, not without conviction. Closure: Screwcap; Alcohol: 13.5%; Price: $20.00; Rating: 91 Points; Stuart Robinson; Vinsomniac
The wine is made from Tempranillo and is about as generous and fruit driven as you can get. Glossy plum with some riper raisin has a Christmas cake like spice on the nose. The palate shows more ripe red cherry fruit that has a plushness to it before a sweeping line of acidity and compact but drying tannin take hold of the mid palate. The finish is a more subtle experience that has taut acidity pulling along red cherry fruit that will no doubt take on some more earthen influence in the coming years.
