Blue Pyrenees were established through a no expense spared approach, by two of the wine world's most revered, accomplished and resourced estates. A superior standard of viticulture and exacting vinification techniques were the priority, they remain at the very core of the Blue Pyrenees raison d'être. An assemblage of exclusively estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Malbec and Shiraz, artfully crafted into a seamless style of vigorously perfumed fruit, finely polished tannins and fragrant, flattering oak.
The Blue Pyrenees Estate Section One Shiraz wine was formerly known as Reserve Shiraz but year after year the majority of this wine is made from the oldest Shiraz vines known as “Section One” or block one of the Estate Vineyard. So from 2013 the new name Section One was adopted for the wine made from these 45+ year old vines.
It's immediately appealing on the nose showing black/blueberry, sweet raspberry, thyme and spicy oak characters, leading to a wonderfully weighted palate that's splendidly fruited and lingering. The wine offers plush texture and fine-grained tannins, finishing superbly long and velvety. Tasted: January 2020; Drink: Now to 2032. Price: $44.00; Rating: 96 Points; Sam Kim; Wine Orbit
