Bleasdale Vineyards is Langhorne Creek's founding winery and Australia's second oldest family-owned and operated winery, established in 1850 by English migrant Frank Potts, who arrived in South Australia on the Buffalo in 1836.  The vineyards are situated on the flood plains of the Bremer river. Frank Potts left behind him a wonderful legacy that continues today. His sons and grandsons have operated and built up the winery, and Bleasdale is solely owned and operated by fourth- and fifth-generation members of the Potts family.

Bleasdale Frank Potts Cabernet Blend 2021
This is a blend of 68/17/8/6/1% cabernet sauvignon/malbec/petit verdot/merlot. Bright crimson-purple hue heralds a very complex wine that has no need of time thanks to its balance, texture and length. It is an outstanding achievement and offers equally exceptional value for money. Top gold at Royal Adelaide Wine Show, gold at Perth Royal Wine Show Awards. Alcohol: 13.5%; Price: $35.00; Drink by: 2041; Rating: 97 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion

Bleasdale Wild Fig SGM 2022
A part-estate, part-grower blend of 67/26/7% shiraz/grenache/mourvèdre. The analysis of 13.5% alcohol, 6.1g/L TA and 3.46 pH are an all-up sweet spot for mouthfeel. On skins 12-14 days, matured for 6 months in used puncheons or tank (to retain freshness). Blending at different times for different purposes is part of 'the knowledge.' The wine is ridiculously good, likely to cause dribbling when tasting. And yes, another 95-pointer. Drink to: 2028; Price: $22.00; Date Tasted: March 2023; Alcohol: 13.5%; Rating: 95 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion

Bleasdale Bremerview Shiraz 2021
Gold medals Melbourne and National Wine Shows. Bright crimson-purple; a masterful play between luscious Langhorne Creek fruit and a spicy, savoury finish. The result is a medium-bodied shiraz that holds interest from the first sip to the finish and aftertaste of the last sip. It's a needle stuck in the groove to comment on the dizzying value for money. Drink to: 2030; Price: $22.00; Date Tasted: March 2023; Alcohol: 14.0%; Rating: 95 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday

Bleasdale Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2022
Clones 76 and Gingin, hand picked directly into a refrigerated container and chilled during transport back to the Bleasdale winery. Whole-bunch pressed direct to French oak puncheons (25% new) for fermentation on full solids including wild mlf; 9 months' maturation. Brilliant quartz-green. All the inputs have been precisely managed, notably the mlf. The bouquet and palate move hand in hand, white peach/nectarine and citrusy acidity running throughout, oak a mere servant. Drink to: 2032; Price: $32.00; Date Tasted: March 2023; Alcohol: 12.5%; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday
