The winegrowing farm Piero Benevelli, situated in Monforte d’Alba in the heart of the Barolo Langa, is composed by around 8 hectares of vineyards, from which approximately 40.000 bottles of wine are produced. This quantity allows us to maintain a family management of the Company, from the work in the estates to the winery. The estate is a committed to preserve the traditions and not abandon the teachings of those who came before them, at the same time supplement this knowledge with the use of modern technologies.
In terms of Italian bang per buck, this wine is often hard to beat, especially if you want plenty of bold flavour. It’s Barbera 70% with 30% Nebbiolo. No oak. Dark fruit, exotic spice, liquorice and cocoa, some dried herb. It’s fleshy and packed with sweet dark fruit, firm thick tannin, some floral mouth-perfume, and a long plush finish sporting a sort of ripe cherry tang. Excellent now. Will cellar. Tasted: Dec 2020; Alcohol: 14.5%; Price: $35; Closure: Cork; Drink: 2020-2028; Rated: 92 Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front
