After searching the globe for an ideal place to plant vines with the aim of making high quality wines, Bellarmine Wines was founded in 2000 on a picturesque property in the pristine cool climate region of Pemberton, South-West Western Australia.
Light to mid-yellow colour. Lots of lime zest and lemon pith aromas, the wine intense and long, deliciously concentrated and profound in its flavour. Seamless texture and great balance. The balance is off-dry; a superb wine. Drink: 2020 to 2032; Price: $26.00; Alcohol: 9%; Rating: 96 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
It impressed the entire panel. I found it intensely floral and gave big ticks to all elements of the balance. I also found the wine surprisingly fresh for its age. It's a simply excellent riesling. Again Huon Hooke in November 2020; Rating: 96 Points; Gourmet Traveller WINE Magazine
Bellarmine uses a decorative (although diminutive) label to tell you that just under 25g/l of residual sugar has been left in this wine by stopping fermentation and sterile filtering it to ensure it doesn't recommence fermentation. It's a pure, delicate mix of lime juice, Granny Smith apple and residual sugar, all contributing to this utterly seductive riesling. Drink to: 2030; Price: $26.00; Date Tasted: Feb 2019; Alcohol: 9%; Rating: 94 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday; Wine Companion
