In 1994, the De Bortoli family planted the Bella Riva vineyard on the King River at the base of the Victorian Snowfields. With strong Italian heritage of both our family and region, Mediterranean varieties were chosen and planted.
Gently aromatic, dry and savoury for every day enjoyment. Grapes are both whole bunch pressed as well as crushed to give a range of phenolics for complexity and texture. The juice is fermented in stainless tanks with a small portion in older French oak casks. Lees are stirred regularly.
Reviews on previous 2016: Whack the pasta on the boil, crack open the bottle and allow the midweek stress to dissolve into all that rising steam. This cheerful Pinot Grigio from the De Bortoli family's King Valley vineyards is vibrant, clean and fresh, with those classic pear, lemon and green apple flavours and aromas all present. But all are in balance and the whole thing finishes with deliciously crisp acidity. Jane Thomson, Herald Sun
Summer is on the way, and many drinkers will be searching for an affordable white wine for warm weather enjoyment and serious thirst quenching. This vivacious King Valley wine from the talented De Bortoli Yarra Valley team ticks a whole lot of boxes. It is made in the Italian grigio style, crisp and fresh and ready to enjoy, lively, aromatic and, to steal a line from the back label, "perky". Think ripe pear fruit flavours, texture and some refreshing acidity. Great with seafoods or seasonal salads, and seriously good value. Winsor Dobbin; Winsor's Choice; October 2016
