The Auld family holds an important place in Australian wine history. Beginning with Patrick Auld (b. 1811), a South Australian wine & spirits merchant, wine has been a common thread in the Auld family bloodline.
A terrific example of the classic Aussie red blend from a great vintage in an iconic region. Powerful primary fruit and freshness coupled with supple cedary development. Dark red with a brick hue. Ripe dark berry, oak, camphor and spice. Sweet palate entry with juicy fruit freshness and touches of development complexity, cedary oak, dried herb, smoked meats and pepper, fine acidity and savoury flavour persistence.
It's gorgeously fruited and complex on the nose showing dark berry, warm spice, cedar and smoked game notes, leading to a beautifully weighted and rounded palate that's supple and silky. The wine offers elegance as well as rich fruit intensity combined with savoury nuances, making it highly enjoyable. Tasted: April 2021; At its best: Now to 2030.
