The Auld family holds an important place in Australian wine history. Beginning with Patrick Auld (b. 1811), a South Australian wine & spirits merchant, wine has been a common thread in the Auld family bloodline.
This exciting Barossa Valley Cabernet has good fruit weight upfront of blackberry and earthy notes, with firm chewy tannins, red berry and dark chocolate lingers.
Beautifully composed and complex, the wine shows blackcurrant, dark cherry, thyme, olive and toasted nut characters on the nose. The palate offers terrific fruit weight and persistency, together with fine texture and chalky tannins, finishing wonderfully long and structured. At its best: now to 2033. Date Tasted: Jan 2021; Price: $42.00; Rating: 94 Points; Sam Kim; Wine Orbit
