The House of Arras is a true expression of its origin and maker – a marriage of exceptional cold climate Tasmanian vineyards and uncompromising sparkling winemaking techniques mastered over decades. The Arras Brut Elite is the fulfilment of a vision to craft world class sparkling wine. A wine with remarkable brightness of character and structural elegance, the Brut Elite has developed outstanding complexity from extended ageing.
Winter rainfall was again above average resulting in strong canopies to drive the vines through the growing season. The warm spring pushed early budburst and rain events continued to maintain soil moisture until mid January. From this point conditions remained mild and dry allowing fruit to ripen to ideal maturity. Wines of this year reflect the warm and advanced vintage exhibiting generous fruit characters and richness of flavour. In time these wines have developed great complexity of character and have retained a strong natural acidity and vibrancy. They will be remembered for wines expressing the fullness of character of a warm spring.
Crystal clear with an extremely fine bead and persistent mousse, the House of Arras Brut Elite is the delicate colour of fresh straw with a bright green/gold hue. On the nose, the wine has an unmistakably inviting and complex mélange of aromas with influences of fresh oyster, sour dough yeast as well as the aromas of exotic spices, vanilla bean and nougat. The Brut Elite has a mineral and elegant palate structure with flavours evolving in the glass around lychee, truffle, cinnamon and lanolin. The natural acidity and subtle quality oak tannins are the backbone of this textural wine that exhibits fantastic persistence of flavour.
