The name Ara (pronounced ‘are-ah’) is both the indigenous Maori word for “pathway” and Latin for “altar”. Both definitions are compatible with their philosophy. Ara's wines are produced from their sustainably managed vineyard in the most south-western corner of Marlborough and deliver an intense and unmistakable purity.
This Pinot Noir shows complex bright red fruits and deep mocha spice burst from the glass. On the palate, the tannins are fine and slightly grippy, with a rich mid palate.
A pretty varietal with sweet beetroot-like fruit characters and showing traces of earthy gamey notes. Great value for money! Date Tasted: Nov/Dec 2021; Rating: 94 Points; Winestate Magazine
