The Chavy family resides in the village of Puligny-Montrachet for over 200 years and the name is famous for consistent production of fine, elegant Burgundy. Alain and his brother worked with their father Gerard in the family domaine until his retirement in 1994.  Since the establishment of Domaine Alain Chavy, the quality of the wines is ever improving. Alain makes restrained style of Puligny with ripe (but never over ripe) fruit balanced by crisp acidity, which are designed to long aging.

This is not just an admirable effort of Chardonnay from a boutique producer in the Yarra, Adelaide Hills or Margaret River. This is Bourgogne baby and one of the best values White Burgundies we have seen. Produced from young Puligny-Montrachet vines, this is fresh, pure and chiselled. Minerality personified!

Lightish yellow hue, with a smoky, subtly toasty bouquet, which suggests some development and also wood contact, however unlikely that may be in a wine of its station. The wine is rich and full, soft and round with a clean dry finish and appetising qualities. Its aftertaste lingers well. A very appealing enty-level white Burgundy, which punches well above its weight. Huon Hooke
