Chock-a-block full of bright, juicy cherried fruit and gentle spice, Parri’s inexpensive Chianti has never been in better form. Smooth, fresh, sweet cherry and berry fruit nose. The palate has nice pure fruit: very up to date and fresh with cherries, hints of blackcurrant plus some violet and sweet tobacco notes.

As I have said before, as much as I appreciate the Australian's attempts at the style, it is hard to go past Italian Sangiovese. However, this has a modern feel, more forward and full bodied than most with lifted aromatics, juicy cherry and subtle herbal and spicy tones. The texture and grippy tannins unmistakably Chianti. Apart from the obvious quality, it is a much more interesting wine to have on the dinner table than many simpler, local wines. Tuck in!
